the restaurant in the hotel at bari was not good , service not good nor the food. Naples is not nice but i already knew that!

It met all my expectations. The guide was thoughtful and very organized she knew us well within a day or two.
I personally had difficulty walking in the caves however received support from her to get through the cave. Then did the Grotto Sassi walk.
I loved the places went and felt very safe. The people were very kind.
I must comment on our driver. Such a kind thoughtful gentleman. He got off the bus at each stop to offer a hand if needed. Bus was immaculate.
The trip would be different without our knowledgeable guide and driver.

The pace of activities was good, food excellent. Loved staying in the trulli houses and in the cave rooms in Mattera.

Loved the destinations & unique experiences ie pasta making, cheese factory & winery visits and all the lovely included meal experiences.

This tour was extremely well organised and evenly paced to provide entertainment and rest periods suitable for all guests.
The tour leader and guides were knowledgeable, interesting and also humorous making the holiday especially enjoyable.
The accommodation was of a high standard and also very unique. Nobody felt hungry as the meals were delicious and more importantly, highlighting the local produce.

I loved this tour altogether. Wonderful cities and old towns. Lots of surprises and fantastic leader and guides.

Great company, great tour and great leader.
After some minor hiccups at the start, thoroughly enjoyed this tour and everything included. Has a bit of free time in there as well so you don’t feel like you’re just being led around like sheep. Would 100% recommend especially for Puglia as it’s not the easiest area to get around to the must see sights.

Loved the Puglia tour with Backroads ? Our tour leader Loredana was so much fun as well as knowledgeable & informative ? So much to see with great variety of places visited especially little villages on the backroads ?

Lou Lou (shortened name) was a fantastic guide and filled every attribute of a perfect guide. We had people trying to find other tours for friends that she would be leading. The local guides were also enthusiastic and good. Our driver, Carmello, (spelled wrong), was excellent.
Tour content was wonderful, with Matera being fantastic. However, there were not enough toilet breaks for a person of my age.
I would recommend this tour to anyone.

Not what I expected having done a Back-Roads tour in 2019. Too bigger group, no backroads, too much pressure.

Fantastic tour which covered so much,
we would never have seen so much on our own .
Fabio our tour leader went above and beyond ensuring everyone had a great time and lots of fun.
Carmine our driver was a great driver and very helpful, we all felt comfortable and safe every minute.

Great agenda, guides, meals, hotels

Excellent tour to many villages of Puglia. Excellent tour leader and guides. Small group of 14 tourists. Good hotels. Reasonable food.

Secrets of Puglia was a very informative and comprehensive tour, covering the large territory of Puglia. We had the best tour leader Annalisa. She knew so much about Italy and was very knowledgeable and interesting to listen to. My only criticism is that the weather was far too warm to be on walking tours at midday however I do realise weather is unpredictable and can not be controlled. One other criticism is that I would have preferred seeing more of Matea rather than only the Sassi. It might have been better to stay in modern Matea and just visit Sassi rather than staying in Sassi the whole time. I feel that I didn’t see much of Matea. I loved Palmento and Alberobello.

A good tour made great by local quality staff!

Great areas visited on the tour the two buses were below standard aircon not working and either no seat belts or some not working guide had good personality but poor sense of time management and planning .

Organised and always maintained a great atmosphere for all events. Provided a excellent travel vibe

This was a totally fabulous group of people with Annalisa an experienced tour leader full of personality.

Our tour leader fabio and experiences made this trip and ours was fabulous. Small bus and good fellow passengers just add to the fun. Pity it wasn't for longer

Fabio, our tour director could not have done more to ensure everyone on the tour was taken care from tracking down lost baggage to getting reservations for dinners when not included in the tour. The people in our group were around our same age and extremely friendly. This added a great deal to the fun of the tour. Experiences were varied and interesting but some walking tours were a bit long. We had a wonderful tour.

A wonderful trip with a fabulous guide and safe driver. Taken to strikingly beautiful towns, cafes and restaurants. Love the food and each area and town displays its unique cuisine. Freshest tomatoes, cherries and strawberries, and their aroma is a joy to the senses. A small group who shared stories about travel, their families, politics and sport. Would thoroughly recommend Secrets of Puglia. Its uniqueness, and each new town revealed centuries old facts and stories of its past.
Take the tour - you will not be disappointed! ???

Annalisa our tour guide was amazing. Very organised with a great knowledge of the area. Francesco our driver was great too . We had lots of fun experiences.
The hotels in Palmento near Locorotondo , Lecce & Matera were excellent in standard and location but the first two hotels were not located nearly as well.
The local guides were very informative of the local areas .
Overall a great tour !

This tour was so well organised it was made even better by our Annalise and the driver. The guests were all so compatible and although most of us hadn’t previously met they all got on so well. All of our tours were so educational whilst being such fun. Our accommodation was first class and so unique. If I was giving an overall score out of 100 I would say 110. My only bit of negative feedback was that I felt a little challenged on our last stay only because I found it a bit of a struggle because I was on the lower level and needed to climb too many stairs to exit. I consider myself to be quite fit and I loved the experience of staying in the old town I just would have preferred to not have to climb so many stairs to go to bed and breakfast. Also, I did not reallt enjoy the food at our last dinner before returning to Naples. It didn’t cost me anything apart from out all in cost but I think we all would have preferred some really good food for our last dinner. Overall, THANKS TO Analise for the best holiday I have ever had.

Wonderful insight to this region of Italy great tour guide and driver. First class tour

Included in the tour were tours of cities/towns with local guides. There were opportunities to sample products from Puglia such as wine, olive oil, pasta, bread and cheese. The hotels were clean and comfortable .Our tour guide was aware that some of his passengers had mobility issues and made accommodations when needed. He was organized and a good communicator. The driver made us feel safe as he drove around the area.

The tour was great. The majority of the hotels were in great central locations and good quality and comfortable. The included meals were excellent. The included activities were well chosen, in particular the pasta making and the following lunch was a definate highlight of the tour.
The tour guide was a definite asset and was helpful and informative

Great tour with a fantastic guide. Was better than expected.

Puglia is an amazing place, and well worth a visit. Back Roads made it highly enjoyable, and we learned a lot about Puglia. We bothg loved the tour.

A few details should be addressed, the mini bus we had several seats were broken and other seats the seat belts didn't work.
It should also be pointed out better that a lot of walking up and down long flights of stairs plus up and down steep hills.

On some days the local tours were too long in the heat

The itinerary was well balanced and varied. The towns we visited were highlights of the region and each one had something special to offer.

The special activities, like the cooking class/lunch, were excellent.

Due to the current heatwave, outdoor tours with local guides (Matera) should have been adjusted. There was no shade and the tour lasted two hours.

Incredible value. Having a driver and tour leader, beautiful accommodations and several meals included was an excellent deal.

Should have had more time to explore matera and lecce. Should not use hotels that are out of town eg bari. Could have had less time in gallipolli.

The places and accommodation choices were great. The size of tour group is always important to me. I much prefer smaller groups

We were well treated and well-cared for in the several hotels that we stayed in. The group meals were terrific with great service in the restaurants and personalized service when needed.

Combination of busy physically exhausting days a d quiet days

I’m not a seasoned traveler but it seems like the experiences, meals and accommodations were very good value for the price paid.

It was a good length and the guide made the tour lots of fun. Also a good sized group
